As a Spanish Rioja drinker I was excited about trying this Vina Rocabo.

As the bottle suggested, I in popped it in the fridge for half an hour to slightly chill, a new way to drink my favourite red wine ! ( I have only come across this once before in France).

On opening the bottle and pouring my glass full, the colour was a beautiful ruby red colour and on taking a deep ‘sniff’ there was a fine aroma of several layers of juicy dark fruitiness.

Yum, yum, yum I thought and on tasting I was not disappointed, because the flavour was bursting with berries – but I did actually prefer it as it warmed up slightly perhaps because this is how I usually drink it.

I would say that the creaminess factor was half fat in this wine not full fat !

This wine is unoaked and in the Joven style which translates as ‘young’.

A good value Spanish wine made from 100% tempranillo grapes. The label was of a typical Spanish style and quite appealing; ?it conjured up images of lazy sun soaked evenings eating Tapas whilst holidaying on the Costa’s of Spain. Rioja Alavesa is an area with a particular microclimate that makes superb unique wines which seem to delight the palate with a smoothness.

For quaffability I will give this a 7.5 out of 10.
